JOHN LAUTNER, ARCHITECT
(LAUTNER, JOHN). Escher, Frank & John Lautner. London: Artemis London Limited, 1994. First Edition. Oblong Folio. Cloth in Printed Dust Jacket. Architecture Monograph. Fine/Fine. 296pp, profusely illustrated in color and b&w. Designed by Lorraine Wild / ReVerb. Featuring contemporary color photographs by Mike Moore as well as vintage black and white images - including dozens by both Julius Shulman and Tim Street-Porter, this massive, beautifully-appointed volume was the first substantial monograph on the innovative late Los Angeles architect John Lautner. A former Frank Lloyd Wright associate at Taliesin, he pioneered what became known as the "Googie" style of forward-thinking mid-century restaurant and commercial design as well as some of the most beautiful and innovative residences in the world such as "Silvertop" and the Sheats home. It was conceived with Lautner's full participation and includes an informative transcribed interview between him and architect/historian/editor Frank Escher. A brand new, most handsome example of the uncommon 1994 Artemis first hardbound edition. 1-874056-65-X Inventory Number: 027504
