    JOHN LAUTNER, ARCHITECT

(LAUTNER, JOHN). Escher, Frank & John Lautner. New York: Princeton Architectural Press, 1998. First American Edition. Oblong Large 4to. Pictorial Wrappers. Architecture Monograph. Near Fine.. 296pp, profusely illustrated in color and b&w. Designed by Lorraine Wild / ReVerb. In a protective clear acetate dustwrapper. Featuring contemporary color photographs by Mike Moore as well as vintage black and white images - including dozens by both Julius Shulman and Tim Street-Porter, this massive, beautifully-appointed volume was the first substantial monograph on the innovative late Los Angeles architect John Lautner. A former Frank Lloyd Wright associate at Taliesin, he pioneered what became known as the "Googie" style of forward thinking mid-century restaurant and commercial design as well as some of the most beautiful and innovative residences in the world such as "Silvertop" and the Sheats home. It was conceived with Lautner's full participation, and includes an informative transcribed interview between him and architect/historian/editor Frank Escher. A most handsome example of the uncommon 1998 Princeton Architectural Press first paperbound edition showing some minor peeling of the rear cover's laminate at the lower foredge corner. It has been priced accordingly. PLEASE NOTE: Additional shipping costs are required for this item beyond our standard rates due to its weight and value - we will inform you of the applicable amount at time of purchase. 1-56898-142-2 Inventory Number: 027378
