THE AMERICAN TRIP: LARRY CLARK, NAN GOLDIN, CADY NOLAND, RICHARD PRINCE - A RARE EXAMPLE WITHOUT THE PAGES GLUED TOGETHER
Monk, Philip. Toronto, CANADA: The Power Plant, 1996. First Edition. 4to. Illustrated Wrappers. Exhibition Catalog. Fine.. 64pp, profusely illustrated in color and b&w. Designed by Adams + Associated Design Consultants. With an exhibition checklist. This is the catalogue documenting the 1996 Power Plant exhibition entitled "The American Trip". Organized by curator Philip Monk, it was a substantial four person show whose participants were Larry Clark, Nan Goldin, Richard Prince, and most notably Cady Noland, who contributed nine free standing ink-on-aluminum pieces featuring imagery of Lee Harvey Oswald, Patty "Tanya" Hearst, and The Charles Manson Family. This represents one of the artist's final authorized exhibitions before calculatedly withdrawing from the gallery and Museum system at the turn of the Century. Additionally notable about the publication is that due to potential legal issues surrounding some of the Larry Clark photographs, the Power Plant was forced to obscure them by permanently glueing facing pages 20 and 21 together as an alternative to destroying the entire print run. A brand new, most handsome example that does not have the offending pages sealed together - perfect for the Larry Clark completeist. 0-921047-07-X Inventory Number: 027075
