    J.B. BLUNK: SCULPTURES 1952-1977

(BLUNK, J.B.). Noguchi, Isamu & Edith R. Wyle. Los Angeles: Craft and Folk Art Museum, 1978. First Edition. 4to. Stapled Pictorial Wrappers. Decorative Arts Monograph. Near Fine.. 20pp, 23 monochrome illustrations + color cover. With an exhibition checklist, chronology, exhibition history and collections listing. Issued in conjunction with a comprehensive 1978 survey exhibition held at Los Angeles' Craft and Folk Art Museum, this is the very first monographic publication on the late iconoclastic Northern California sculptor and decorative artist James Blain Blunk. It includes an appreciation by Isamu Noguchi along with illustrations of twenty-four of the one hundred and fourteen objects shown. His organic forms - many hewn from single blocks of wood - look as fresh today as they did when this was published, and makes clear that Blunk's rediscovery by Blum & Poe gallery in 2010 was just a matter of time A bright, most handsome example of this exceedingly uncommon document for which only a single copy is cited in OCLC WorldCat. Inventory Number: 026791
