HOWARD FINSTER'S VISION OF 1982. VISION OF 200 LIGHT YEARS AWAY SPACE BORN OF THREE GENERATIONS. FROM EARTH TO THE HEAVEN OF HEAVENS

(FINSTER, HOWARD). Finster, Howard. Summerville, GA: Howard Finster, 1982. Edition Not Stated - Presumed First. 4to. Stapled Illustrated Wrappers. Artist's Book. Fine.. 100pp, profusely illustrated in b&w. "Howard Finster's Vision of 1982..." is a charming, self-published artist's book cum souvenir from Summerville Georgia's late, great "Man of Vision", the Reverend Howard Finster. Perhaps America's best known Outsider artist of the twentieth century, he created scores of thousands of pieces in his eighty-four years including artwork for Talking Heads, The Tom Tom Club, and R.E.M. According to Finster, was called upon in 1976 by God in a vision to create "sacred art", which he did prolifically for the next twenty-five years. This publication was sold by the artist during the 1980s at his elaborate Folk Art environment cum home "Paradise Gardens", and is reproduced from an almost entirely hand-drawn and lettered manuscript that includes collages featuring photographs of favored friends, visitors, and press clippings. A brand new, most handsome example of this homespun item. Inventory Number: 025383
