    H.R. GIGER: ALIEN - DIARIES 7 / 8

(GIGER, H.R.). Giger, H.R. Introduction by Clive Barker. Zurich, SWITZERLAND. 2013 (2014).: Edition Patrick Frey. Third Edition. Tall Stout 8vo. 1/4 Cloth Over Boards. Artist Monograph. As New/No Jacket - As Issued. 664pp, profusely illustrated in color and b&w. Text in German and English. Designed by Daniela Trunk. "H.R. Giger worked in the Shepperton Studios near London from February to November 1978 creating iconic characters and sets for Ridley Scott's 1979 film, "Alien". In the "Alien Diaries" the artist describes with brutal honesty, sarcasm, and occasional despair his work on the film that became an international success and earned him an Academy Award in the process. It reproduces for the first time in detailed facsimile "Diary 7" and "Diary 8" that Giger compiled during the production in which he sketched, inserted on-set photographs and Polaroid SX-70s, and writes as he struggles against all odds, be it the stinginess of producers or the sluggishness of his staff, to see his designs become reality. These notebooks have been supplemented with typographic transcriptions in English and German that reveal a little-known, personal side of Giger and offer a unique glimpse into the making of a movie classic through the eyes of an artist". A brand new, pristine example of the hardbound 2014 Edition Patrick Frey printing still in the publisher's shrinkwrap. 3-905929-45-7 Inventory Number: 025186
