TERRY PAINTER, L'ARTISTE: A GRAPHIC NOVEL BY NICK WAPLINGTON & MIGUEL CALDERON - SIGNED BY NICK WAPLINGTON

(WAPLINGTON, NICK) (CALDERON, MIGUEL). Waplington, Nick & Miguel Calderon. Mexico City: NP, 2003. First Edition. 8vo. Illustrated Wrappers. Artist Monograph. Fine.. 182pp, profusely illustrated in color. Text in English. This quirky item is a graphic novel collaboratively written by noted British photographer Nick Waplington and contemporary Mexican artist and photographer Miguel Calderon. It is an acidic skewering of the vapid New York art and fashion worlds as told by wunderkind painter/model turned grotesque accident victim, Terry Painter. Beautifully produced on heavy stock in a very limited edition, the artwork (with some clever nods to Roy Lichtenstein and E.C. Comics) is credited to "Domingo and Cecilia", while the plot contains thinly veiled references to Julian Schnabel, Larry Gagosian, and too many more boldfaced names to mention. A brand new, pristine example of this uncommon item SIGNED "Nick Waplington" in black ink on the title page. Inventory Number: 023360
