JON SAVAGE / LINDER STERLING: THE SECRET PUBLIC - LIMITED EDITION PORTFOLIO OF SILKSCREEN REPRODUCTIONS AFTER THE 1978 ORIGINAL SIGNED BY JON SAVAGE

(SAVAGE, JON) (STERLING, LINDER). Kugelberg, Johan, Michael Bracewell, Jon Savage & Linder Sterling. New York: Boo-Hooray Gallery, 2010. First Edition Thus 1/40. Folio. Loose Contents in a Portfolio. Artists Monograph. As New.. Twelve 17 x 12" loose sheets of heavy stock, silkscreened in b&w recto only + two loose 11 x 8 ½" xeroxed flyers laid into an 18 ¼ x 12 ¼" silkscreened chipboard portfolio, profusely illustrated in b&w. Printed by Keegan Cooke at X Blank X Press. Limited to forty copies only, this is the super-cool portfolio published in conjunction with the Johan Kugelberg curated 2010 Boo-Hooray Gallery exhibition of the punk-era collage/montage work of Jon Savage and Linder Sterling. "Jon Savage is the noted author of "England’s Dreaming" and "Teenage". Linder Sterling is a visual, performance and installation artist represented in the Tate permanent collection. Jon Savage and Linder published the art fanzine "The Secret Public" in Manchester during the first month of 1978. It was the second New Hormones product - catalogue number ORG 2 after the Buzzcocks' already iconic "Spiral Scratch" - and was distributed through Rough Trade and other independent outlets. This was followed by the portfolio "Mixed Media Montages" published in late 1978. Some of these images originally appeared as flyers and as posters for the Buzzcocks, Joy Division, Magazine and Factory Records circa 1977-1980". This luxe publication reproduces in a far more elegant format the twelve original photo collages from the 1978 original as full page silkscreens, each numbered in the lower right-hand margin and SIGNED in pencil by Jon Savage on the six images of his own artwork, as issued. A brand new, pristine NUMBERED (32/40) example. PLEASE NOTE: Additional shipping costs are required for this item beyond our standard rates due to its value - we will inform you of the applicable amount at time of purchase.
