Published in conjunction with an comprehensive 1972 retrospective exhibition of sixty-five works spanning the years 1919 to 1971, this was one of the first monographic publications on noted Los Angeles modernist Lorser Feitelson - who along with John McLaughlin, Frederick Hammersley, and Karl Benjamin comprised the "Four Abstract Classicists" featured in the ground-breaking 1959 Los Angeles County Museum of Art exhibition of the same name. A most handsome example of this uncommon item limited to one thousand copies bearing the BOLDLY SIGNED AND DATED PRESENTATION "To Fred & Marsha (sic) with lots of affection! Lorser Feitelson Aug-17-'72" in black ink on the title page to the then-married noted Los Angeles art collectors and patrons Frederick and Marcia Weisman.
