    JD'S LESBIAN CALENDAR 2003

(SAMSON, JD) (BIRD, CASS). Samson, JD. Durham, NC: Mr. Lady Records and Videos, 2002. First Edition. 4to. Stapled Pictorial Wrappers. Wall Calendar. Near Fine.. np (24pp), 13 color illustrations + color cover. Designed by Lux. This is the charming calendar for 2003 featuring noted lesbian activist, artist, and musician JD Samson performing a number of blue collar tasks including mucking a stall, caddying on the golf course, and dog-walking. Of it, the artist states "I made a calendar called "JD's Lesbian Calendar 2003" with my old friend Cass Bird, a Los Angeles-based photographer. It was made in hopes to create visibility for the butch lesbian, as worker and household character through the familiar format of the photo calendar". It is entirely photographed by Bird (with styling by Samson and K8 Hardy), and was published by Mr. Lady Records and Videos - the label at the time for Samson's band of "underground electro-feminist performance artists" - Le Tigre. A bright, most handsome example of this uncommon ephemeral item suitable for use again in 2025 showing a few light scrapes to the front cover. Inventory Number: 022806
