Bette Cohen's "The Spirit of Architecture: John Lautner" is an extraordinary 1991 documentary film that examines the work of the visionary and profound architect who began his career in Los Angeles in the 1930s. This illuminating journey into Lautner's world features never-before-seen footage from his apprenticeship with Frank Lloyd Wright at Taliesin, extensive documentation of his extraordinary buildings, and interviews with historians, critics, collaborators, clients, as well as Lautner himself. A handsome example in its printed cardboard sleeve of Bette Cohen's exceedingly uncommon official 1991 VHS release of this engaging film that to date has not been commercially released on DVD.
