SCRIPPS COLLEGE ELEVENTH INVITATIONAL CERAMIC ART ANNUAL - PORTFOLIO WITH TWENTY PHOTOGRAPHS
Petterson, Richard & Burton Frasher, Jr.. Claremont, CA: Scripps College, 1954. First Edition. Folio. Loose Plates in a Portfolio. Exhibition Catalog. Good +.. Nineteen individual 11 x 14 ¾" textured cardstock sheets each with a mounted silver gelatin photographic print, 19 b&w illustrations + b&w cover. This is the exquisite catalogue cum portfolio published in conjunction with the 1954 Scripps College "Ceramic Art Annual" - a long-running who's who of West Coast clay innovators. It features captioned photographic prints taken by Burton Frasher Jr. of twenty exhibited works by Laura Andresen, Jerome Ackerman, Ed Cadogan, Betty Davenport, Anthony Ivins, Joan Jockwig Pearson, Otto Natzler, Rex Mason, Harrison McIntosh, Richard Petterson, Eunice Prieto, Antonio Prieto, Ruth Rippon, Sue Shrode, Roy Walker, Marguerite Wildenhain, and three by visionary ceramicist Peter Voulkos - the father of West Coast Abstract Expressionist Ceramics. An internally most handsome example of this exceedingly uncommon, clearly hand-assembled document whose brown art paper exterior portfolio shows moderate wear and sunning as well as a tear along the spine. Additionally laid in are two Scripps College catalogues entitled "The Potter in the New World" (1953) and "Color in Ceramic Art" (1956). It has been priced accordingly. Inventory Number: 018256
