(TAMAYO, RUFINO). Lemaistre De Sacy, Isaac-Louis. Paris & Berlin: Club International de Bibliophilie, 1959. First Edition 1/255 Deluxe. Folio. 3/4 Leather Over Boards. Livre D'Artiste. Near Fine/No Jacket - As Issued. 142pp, with 15 color lithographs. Text in French. Published in Paris in 1955, "Apocalypse de Saint Jean" is an extraordinarily lovely Livre D'Artiste that includes fifteen original color lithographs executed by Rufino Tamayo specifically for this project, and represents the renowned Mexican artist's most sumptuous illustrated book. A beautiful example from the edition of two hundred and fifty-five copies on Velin de Rives paper originally issued in wrappers (entry number ninety-three in Juan Carlos Pereda and Nuria Rico's "Tamayo Illustrador") that has subsequently been bound in an exquisite three quarter red Morocco leather-over-hand-marbled-green-boards whose spine features six raised bands and decorative gilt embossing. The top edge gilt, textblock and interior are bright and clean, while the extremities show a tiny bit of scuffing.
