RAYMOND PETTIBON: UP THE THRESHOLD
(PETTIBON, RAYMOND). Pettibon, Raymond & Ralph Rugoff. Vienna, AUSTRIA: Galerie Krinzinger, 1992. First Edition. 8vo. Stapled Illustrated Wrappers. Artist's Book. Fine.. 32pp, 30 b&w illustrations. Text in English. With a chronology. Raymond Pettibon first came to prominence during the late-seventies with his raw, literary-inflected imagery for Black Flag, Sonic Youth, and SST Records. Over the subsequent decades, the erstwhile Southern California artist has deservedly become an international contemporary art icon. "Up the Threshold" is his 1992 artist book cum 'zine published in conjunction with Pettibon's participation in "LAX" - a series of one-person exhibitions by Southern California-based artists curated by Vienna's Galerie Krinzinger - that reproduces eighteen psychologically-charged drawings. A brand new, most handsome, guaranteed authentic example of this uncommon Pettibon tour de force (entry number one hundred and three in Uwe Koch and Roberto Ohrt's "A Catalogue Raisonné of Artists' Books by Raymond Pettibon, 1978-98").
