This is the catalogue issued in conjunction with the 1984 University of California, Santa Barbara University Art Museum exhibition entitled "Neo York: Report on a Phenomenon" that subsequently traveled to The Akron Art Museum. The show surveyed recent works by fifty-six artists identified with Manhattan's East Village Art Scene of the early eighties, including Gretchen Bender, Mike Bidlo, Sue Coe, Jimmy De Sana, Richard Hambleton, Mark Kostabi, Stephen Lack, Greer Lankton, Gracie Mansion, Marilyn Minter, Peter Nagy, Joseph Nechvatal, Walter Robinson, Peter Schuyff, Huck Snyder, Meyer Vaisman, Julie Wachtel, David Wojnarowicz, Martin Wong, Michele Zalopany, Zephyr (Andrew Whitten), and Rhonda Zwillinger.
