WALLACE BERMAN: SEMINA - LIMITED EDITION BOXED SET OF FACSIMILE REPRINTS OF ISSUES 1-9 (COMPLETE) SUPERVISED AND SIGNED BY GEORGE HERMS

(BERMAN, WALLACE) (SEMINA). Berman, Wallace & George Herms. Venice, CA: Love Press (George Herms), 1992. First Edition Thus #34/300. Small 4to. Loose Booklets in a Box. Artists' Books. As New./No Jackets - As Issued.. np, nine individual facsimile reproductions of "Semina" magazine plus a loose colophon laid into a box. Truly a labor of Love, this meticulous facsimile recreation of Wallace Berman's legendary - and legendarily scarce - handmade literary and art anthology from the late '50s through early '60s took four years to bring to fruition. Its stellar list of Beat-inflected contributors include Berman first and foremost, along with John Altoon, Antonin Arthaud, Charles Brittin, Charles Bukowski, William S. Burroughs, Jean Cocteau, Allen Ginsberg, Marion Grogan, Walter Hopps, Larry Jordan, Philip Lamantia, Michael McClure, David Meltzer, Stuart Perkoff, John Weiners, and many others. This edition has been painstakingly printed and assembled in the manner of the originals utilizing handset letterpress on scraps of colored paper, photos, pastedowns, etc. The project was edited and overseen by Berman's close friend and fellow assemblage artist George Herms at his Love Press. A brand new, most handsome example of the extraordinary 1992 facsimile reprint authorized by Wallace Berman's family limited to three hundred copies NUMBERED (34/300) AND SIGNED by George Herms on the colophon, laid into the publisher's printed chipboard box, as issued. PLEASE NOTE: Additional shipping costs are required for this item beyond our standard rates due to its weight and value - we will inform you of the applicable amount at time of purchase.
