    LOEWE 1846-2017: PAST PRESENT FUTURE

(LOEWE). Anderson, Jonathan & Luis Venegas. Madrid, SPAIN: LOEWE, 2016. First Edition #1766/2000. Large 4to. Wrappers in Clamshell Box. Fashion Monograph. Near Fine/No Jacket - As Issued. "LOEWE 1846-2017: Past Present Future" is the beautifully designed and printed limited edition book published by the venerable Spanish fashion house in 2016 on the one hundred and seventieth anniversary of it founding. Established in 1846 in Madrid by a group of leather craftsmen, they have since the 1970s been one of Europe's most esteemed purveyors of luxury leather goods, clothing, perfumes and accessories. LOEWE was acquired in full by LVMH in 1996, and since the appointment of Jonathan Anderson as creative director in 2013, they have been headquartered in Paris. This lavish, nearly six hundred page history is a collaborative effort between Anderson, Luis Venegas, and graphic designers M/M that combines archival visual materials with recent and newly-commissioned photography by a stellar roster that includes Steven Meisel, Alasdair McLellan, Jamie Hawkesworth, Tim Walker, Viviane Sassen, David Sims, Mario Sorrenti, Nick Knight, Mario Testino, Juergen Teller, Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, Mark Borthwick, Camille Vivier, Javier Vallhonrat, Jaime Gorospe, Luis Venegas, and many more. A most handsome example of the book itself limited to two thousand copies showing a tiny crimp to the lower foredge corner that is accompanied by a miniature book of LOEWE logo-branded post-it notes useful for marking one's favorite pages. The publisher's printed paper-over-thick cardboard clamshell box was unfortunately dented during shipping at both lower rear corners, and has additional separation of the paper covering the cardboard along some of the joints. It has been priced accordingly. Inventory Number: 027105
