This is the striking poster issued in conjunction with Patti Smith's Saturday, July 28th, 1979 performance at The Fox Venice Theater in Venice, California. Touring with The Patti Smith Group in support of the Arista Records release, "Wave" - their fourth album for the label, and last before embarking on a nine-year recording hiatus, Smith took the evening preceding a Sunday concert at the Hollywood Palladium to present an intimate spoken word performance before a small audience. The poster's arresting image is of the artist intensely staring at photographer and frequent collaborator Robert Mapplethorpe while holding two white doves. A most presentable example of this uncommon item distributed hors commerce for promotional purposes only - primarily in local record stores - and never made available commercially for sale showing some mild handling and flattened horizontal folds.
