A 1942 TWO SIDED LEAFLET TO PROMOTE THE SALE OF U.S. WAR STAMPS AND WAR BONDS

U.S. War Advertising Council. NP: NP (U.S. War Advertising Council), 1942. Edition Not Stated. 16mo. Printed Paper. Propaganda Leaflet. Near Fine.. One 3 ¼ x 5 ¾" sheet printed color offset recto and verso, one color illustration. Featuring a distinctly unflattering caricature of Der Fuhrer, this is a graphically striking two-sided leaflet issued by the United States Government in 1942 to help insure an allied victory in World War II by promoting the sale at retail stores of U.S. War Stamps and Bonds. The text on the verso reads: "Hitler says: "Democracy is Dead". Democracy is dead Hitler,,, dead-set on burying you deep under your own debris. Right now the vultures are flying over Berchtesgaden waiting for you to come home to roost. Our dimes and dollars will hasten the day we stow Hitler away. Let's buy bonds - to buy bombs to bury Hitler. Don't take a powder... help buy some". The verso states "The immediate, "all out" public purchase of U.S. WAR STAMPS and BONDS will help bring VICTORY in the shortest possible time! Let's ALL do MORE than our share in JULY! WAR STAMPS and BONDS are now easily available in most RETAIL STORES. Victory - 1942!". A bright, well-preserved example of this uncommon bit of wartime propaganda showing just the slightest bit of age-toning along the bottom edge. Inventory Number: 025970
