ALLAN KAPROW: AN EXHIBITION SPONSORED BY THE ART ALLIANCE OF THE PASADENA ART MUSEUM

(KAPROW, ALLAN). Kaprow. Allan & Barbara Berman. Preface by James T. Demetrion. Pasadena, CA: Pasadena Art Museum, 1967. First Edition. 4to. Spiral-Bound Boards. Artist Monograph. Near Fine/No Jacket - As Issued. 56pp, profusely illustrated in b&w gravure. With an exhibition history, bibliography and exhibition checklist. In a protective clear acetate dustwrapper. This is the exceedingly cool catalogue published in conjunction with the first major museum survey of the work of the renowned late Happenings and Performance artist Allan Kaprow. Published in 1967, the retrospective travelled from the Pasadena Art Museum to St. Louis' Washington University and The University of Texas, Austin. It includes copious photographic documentation, a transcribed interview between the artist and Barbara Berman, and the announcement for Kaprow's happening "Fluids" that was performed throughout Southern California in conjunction with the exhibition. A most handsome example of this uncommon spiral-bound document limited to one thousand, two hundred unnumbered copies showing some typical minor age-patination to the boards and preliminaries. Inventory Number: 025826
