    SALVADOR DALI - BOLDLY INSCRIBED ASSOCIATION COPY FROM THE ARTIST

    (DALI, SALVADOR). Dali, Salvador. New York: Carstairs Gallery, 1958. First Edition. Large 4to. Stapled Illustrated Wrappers. Artist Monograph. Very Good -.. One 14 x 21" cardstock sheet printed offset recto and verso folded in half vertically to make 14 x 11 ½", 4pp, 1 b&w cover illustration. Cover Designed by Salvador Dali. With an exhibition checklist. In a protective clear acetate dustwrapper. This is the slender four page catalogue published in conjunction with Salvador Dali's 1959 exhibition of thirteen watercolors and drawings at New York's Carstairs Gallery. Stating "This, my best exhibition, I dedicate to Gala, my Sistine Madonna", it features a cover illustration by the Surrealist icon along with his brief "Anti-Matter Manifesto". A most presentable example of this exceedingly uncommon item additionally BOLDLY INSCRIBED "Monsieur Alexandre ELIOT" in blue ballpoint pen across the rear cover plus "Hommages de Dali / 1959" in blue fountain pen on the inside front cover showing light soiling and spotting, some stray pigment marks, and minor insect damage to the covers. Noted late historian, critic, and author Alexander Eliot - for whom this was inscribed - was the "Time" magazine art editor between 1945 and 1960 and a close friend of the artist.
