"Blinky the Friendly Hen" is idiosyncratic Southern California-based artist Jeffrey Vallance's slender photographically illustrated artist's book from 1979 that documents his project of going to the supermarket to pick out the frozen chicken he named "Blinky", and subsequently interring it at a local Pet Cemetery - all for the itemized expense of $229.57. It is dedicated to "the billions of hens sacrificed each year for our consumption".
