"Conversations with the Dead" is Danny Lyon's moving 1971 monograph cum artists' book that juxtaposes seventy-two of his gritty photographs of daily life within the Texas Prison system with the drawings and journal excerpts from inmate Billy McCune, whom he befriended during the process of making the book.
