This is the slender four page brochure published in conjunction with a January 1965 performance by the late, great John Cage of his 1963 composition "Variations IV" presented with his frequent collaborator David Tudor at Los Angeles' Feigen / Palmer Gallery. It includes a printed insert with a diagram bearing the text "Audience. May Feel Free to Move During Performance. To Bar or Outside and Return. The brochure contains instructions for actualizing the piece utilizing the diagram cum score. Two recordings of the evening's performance of this multi-media "happening" were later issued by Everest Records. A brand new, glossy example of this uncommon ephemeral item. Inventory Number: 026939
