In a protective clear acetate dustwrapper. Published in 1952 at the Black Mountain College Graphics Workshop, this is noted American literary figure Charles Olson's collaboration with Black Mountain artist and graphic designer Nicola Cernovich entitled "Broadside No. 1". It pairs Olson's poem "This" with Cernovich's typographic design and a full page screeprint illustration that has been additionally oolorfully-embellished by hand. A presentable, complete and intact example of this uncommon, wildly fragile broadside whose brittle, highly acidic blue paper stock shows typical age-toning and discoloration around the edges, along with some chipping and separation along the folds additionally bearing the BOLDLY SIGNED AND DATED PRESENTATION "Felicidades, Amigos! / (& all Lermeros, / meaning (undecipherable) / & (undecipherable) including / Katherine (nacio October 23), who knew Lerma from the / inside! / & Constance & Charles / olson" / December / 1951" in advance of the printed publication date in black ink across the colophon. This was acquired directly from the library of Charles Olson's Black Mountain colleague and longtime close friend, artist and educator Emerson Woelffer. Woelffer and his wife Dina spent time with the Olsons at their home in Lerma in the Yucatan, where they were all investigating ancient Mayan material culture. Dina Woelffer, a gifted photographer, provided several images for Olson's published works on the subject. Inventory Number: 026917
