BOB DYLAN: TARANTULA
(DYLAN, BOB). Dylan, Bob. Hibbing, MN. ND (Circa 1970).: Wimp Press. First Edition Thus. 12mo. Brad-Bound Printed Wrappers. Music Monograph. Very Good - ./Good +.. 54pp, 1 b&w cover illustration. In a protective clear acetate dustwrapper. This is one of several unauthorized paperbound printings of Bob Dylan's notorious "Tarantula" manuscript that preceded its official US Macmillan publication in 1971. Printed by mimeo machine and sold in California head shops and on the street, this Wimp Press version - allegedly from Dylan's birthplace of Hibbing, Minnesota - dates to 1970. The front cover bears a drawing of a tarantula, the publisher's text stating "Author's royalties from the sale of this book are being donated to the Caladan Free School. Publisher's profits will contribute to the furtherance of Woodstock Nation", and the presumed original price of $1.25 hand-written in ink. A most presentable example of this uncommon item bound with three brass brads along the spine showing some mild soiling to the foredge of the rear cover, a bit of typical age toning to the textblock, and some wear, creasing, and a closed tear to its still-present unprinted acetate wrappers. It has been priced accordingly. Inventory Number: 026022
