TITLE UNKNOWN: A TWO VOLUME SURVEY OF THE VISUAL REPRESENTATION OF CHINESE WOMEN IN EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY ADVERTISING
Author Unknown. CHINA. ND (Circa 1990).: Publisher Unknown. First Edition. 4to. Self-Wrappers in Slipcase. Graphic Design Survey. Fine./No Jackets - As Issued.. 104 + 118pp, profusely illustrated in color and monochrome. This is the lavishly-illustrated two volume study of the visual representation of Chinese women in modernist advertising during the first half of the twentieth Century. These cover the graphic design of packaging and print advertising for products originating domestically as well as the importation and marketing to Chinese women of well-known Western consumer brands such as Lifebuoy, Palmolive, Eveready, and others. As neither volume contains a single word of English, we are unfortunately at a loss to properly bibliographically describe this visual survey. A bright, most handsome example of this uncommon item in the publisher's illustrated cardboard and decorative cloth slipcase. 02-7631452-5 Inventory Number: 025971
