Published in 1931, "California Hills..." is the first book of Paul Landacre dramatic black and white modernist prints. Featuring fifteen plates printed from the original woodblocks by Harold Young, it is a masterful tour-de-force of depression moderne imagery, A most presentable unnumbered example of this significant and notoriously fragile tome limited to five hundred copies BOLDLY SIGNED "Paul Landacre" in black ink on the rear colophon, as issued, showing some some typical light ghosting from the recto of the prints onto the verso of the preceding page, mild wear and fraying to the spine ends and tips of the boards, and some light browning and foxing to the endpapers. Additionally, it bears the small adhesive label of Los Angeles' legendary Zeitlin Books - owned by Landacre's close friend Jake Zeitlin - affixed to the inside of the rear board.
