INTER/VIEW: A MONTHLY FILM JOURNAL VOL. I, NO. 1 (1969) - "FIRST ISSUE COLLECTOR'S EDITION" OF ANDY WARHOL'S INTERVIEW
(WARHOL, ANDY) (INTER/VIEW MAGAZINE). Malanga, Gerard, Paul Morrissey, John Wilcock & Andy Warhol, Editors. Andy Warhol, Publisher. New York: Poetry on Film, Inc., 1969. First Edition. Folio. Pictorial Tabloid Wrappers. Film Journal. Poor.. np (28pp), profusely illustrated in b&w. In a protective clear acetate dustwrapper. This is the the very first installment of "Inter/VIEW: A Monthly Film Journal" - the late-sixties New York underground Cinema rag that soon transformed itself into Andy Warhol's "Interview" Magazine. Edited by Warhol, Gerard Malanga, Paul Morrissey, and John Wilcock, the contents of this "First Issue Collector's Edition" from 1969 includes contributions on or by Michael Sarne interviewed by Susan Pile, Aubrey Tarbax on George Cukor, Donald Lyons on "Justine or Camille", "Zabriskie Point"'s Mark Frechette and Daria Halprin, Taylor Mead, Jerry Hopkins on Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek's Doors documentary "Feast of Friends", Agnes Varda on "Lions Love", "Spirits of the Dead" by Wheeler Dixon, Sheldon Renan, "The Starlet" by Dion McGregor, "Peter Fonda as Scorpio Risen" by Richard Lorber, "Seeing Double" by Robert Weiner, Gerard Malanga's memorial paean "The Permanence of Sharon Tate", and more. A textually and pictorially complete but disintegrating example of the exceedingly uncommon premier issue of this influential journal whose wildly brittle, cheap tabloid-sized newsprint pages have nearly all separated along both the spine and the mid-page horizontal fold. In addition, it shows significant chipping and closed tears along the extremities. The textblock is held in place and protected by an archival clear acetate dustwrapper, but even the most gentle handling results in additional chipping along the extremities. PLEASE NOTE: Due to these condition issues, we have priced this example accordingly and are offering it for sale strictly "AS IS", with no returns. If you have any questions or concerns about these details, please voice them before purchasing this - we will be happy to answer any inquiry. ISSN 0149-8932 Inventory Number: 025845
