HELMUT NEWTON: SLEEPLESS NIGHTS - SIGNED BY THE PHOTOGRAPHER
(NEWTON, HELMUT). Behr, Edward. New York: Congreve Publishing Company, Inc., 1978. First Edition. 4to. Cloth in Pictorial Dust Jacket. Photography Monograph. Near Fine/Near Fine. np, profusely illustrated in b&w. Text in English. Designed by Fritz Hofrichter of Olaf Leu Company. Published in 1978, "Sleepless Nights" was the much-anticipated successor to Helmut Newton' taboo-breaking "White Women". It features a brief essay by "Newsweek" editor Edward Behr accompanied by a selection of the master's transgressive seventies fashion editorial work featuring Patti Hansen, Lisa Taylor, Beverly Johnson, Paloma Picasso, Suzy Dyson, Jane Kirby, Jenny Kapitain, Suze Randall, Andy Warhol, and many others. Included are the iconic "Saddle", "At Maxim's", and "Mannequin" pictures as well as several of the New York rooftop images Newton shot for the work of Faye Dunaway's photographer character in "The Eyes of Laura Mars". A most handsome example of the 1978 first edition (cited on page 254 of Alessandro Bertolotti's "Books of Nudes") additionally BOLDLY SIGNED "Helmut Newton" in black ink across the half title page. 0-930186-00-1 Inventory Number: 024399
