He has produced thousands of photographs on subjects such as Mont St. Michel, Le Notre's Gardens, the Calais Lace Factories, and Chateau Lafite Rothschild, and in 2000 was presented with the prestigious Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture. "France" encompasses work from these projects and many others. Bound in burgundy dyed silk cloth and housed in an elegant gold-stamped black slipcase, this gorgeous new book contains two hundred and seventy-five duotone plates of both well-known and previously unpublished images from Kenna's own archive. It was edited by the renowned photographer, and features an introduction by noted historian and curator Jean-Claude Lemagny.
