Published in conjunction with a 1973 Institute of Contemporary Art retrospective (the artist's inaugural museum show), this is the very first monographic catalogue on the work of the esteemed, late American minimal pioneer Agnes Martin. The exhibition consisted of seventy-five paintings on canvas, drawings, watercolors and constructions - of which twenty-four are reproduced here. It includes an essay by Lawrence Alloway as well as several textual contributions and transcribed anecdotes from Agnes Martin herself. A most handsome example of the 1976 second printing limited to two thousand, five hundred copies showing some typical light discoloration at the extremities along with mild creasing along the spine.
