JOE GOODE EDWARD RUSCHA
(RUSCHA, EDWARD) (GOODE, JOE ). Hopkins, Henry T., Dorothy Ruscha & Mason Williams. Balboa, CA: The Fine Arts Patrons of Newport Harbor, 1968. First Edition. 4to. Loose Sheets with Clasp. Artists Monograph. Very Good.. np (32pp), 13 b&w and 4 color illustrations. With an exhibition history. Published as a set of loose pages held together with a plastic clasp at the spine, this inexpensively designed yet quaint catalogue is in effect the first museum publication for each of these Oklahoma transplants that helped to shape the Los Angeles art scene of the 1960s. Filled with major early works by both artists (Joe Goode's stair and milk bottle pieces, Ed Ruscha's "Oof", "Annie", and the Standard paintings, etc.), it is an important document of two major artists at the height of their powers. A handsome example of this uncommon item showing some light wear and soiling to the covers along with a tiny crimp to the first few pages at the upper foredge corner. It has been priced accordingly.
