TADANORI YOKOO: ILLUSTRATIONS (YOKOO TADANORI: GASHU) - LIMITED EDITION WITH A SIGNED COLOR LITHOGRAPH
(YOKOO, TADANORI). Yokoo, Tadanori. Kobe, JAPAN: Kobe Newspapers Publishing Center, 1983. First Edition 1/1200 Deluxe. Elephant Folio. Cloth in Slipcase. Graphic Design Monograph. Near Fine/No Jacket - As Issued. np, 57 color and 56 b&w illustrations. Text in Japanese. Designed by Tadanori Yokoo. Best known for his seventies album covers for Miles Davis, Santana, the Beatles, and more, Tadanori Yokoo is arguably the most influential Japanese graphic designer of the Twentieth Century. Emerging from the turbulent post-war generation, his bold, unprecedented style mixed traditional Ukiyo-E imagery with Japanese comics, Western sexuality, and Pop Art to create an extraordinary body of work that continues to this day. Published in 1983, this massive (20 x 14 ½"), sumptuously produced tome focuses on Tadanori Yokoo's paintings and drawings as well as his better-known posters. It was limited to one thousand, two hundred copies - each containing one of four different color lithographs in an edition of three hundred. A bright, most handsome example of the book itself with the NUMBERED (134/300), SIGNED, AND DATED color print "Yokoo '83" in a printed paper portfolio, as issued, housed in the publisher's slightly worn and soiled decorative slipcase. 4-87521-124-4 Inventory Number: 022035
