(MORTENSEN, VIGGO). Mortensen, Viggo. Santa Monica, CA: Perceval Press, 2004. First Edition. Oblong 4to. Pictorial Self-Wrappers. Photography Monograph. As New.. 72pp, profusely illustrated in color and b&w. This is the first edition of Viggo Mortensen's lovely document of equestrian photographs taken primarily during his travels while filming the motion picture "Hidalgo". Set in the late nineteenth Century, it is based on the autobiographical writings of real-life Pony Express rider Frank T. Hopkins, who claimed to have traveled around the world to the Middle East to compete with his mustang Hidalgo in a prize-laden three thousand mile race from Aden to Damascus. A loving tribute to the Horse, these exotic images were taken in Morocco, South Dakota, Montana, Iceland, New Zealand, Denmark, Brazil, Argentina, and California, with many shot from the photographer's point of view while in the saddle. A brand new, pristine example of the paperbound 2004 first printing still in the publisher's shrinkwrap. 0-9747078-1-3 Inventory Number: 016748
