AN ALLE KUNSTLER! WAR-REVOLUTION-WEIMAR: GERMAN EXPRESSIONIST PRINTS, DRAWINGS, POSTERS AND PERIODICALS FROM THE ROBERT GORE RIFKIND FOUNDATION
Rigby, Ida Katherine & Robert Gore Rifkind. Foreword by Dennis Komac. San Diego, CA: San Diego State University Press, 1983. First Edition. 4to. Cloth in Illustrated Jacket. Exhibition Catalog. Very Good/Very Good. 118pp, profusely illustrated in b&w + color cover. With an exhibition checklist and bibliography. This is the scholarly catalogue published in conjunction with a 1983 touring exhibition of one hundred and forty-two German Expressionist prints, drawings, posters, and periodicals drawn from the Robert Gore Rifkind Foundation. Now part of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's holdings, the collection is reputedly the most comprehensive archive of Expressionist graphics outside of Germany. Artists whose work is featured include Max Buchartz, Heinrich Campendonk, Otto Dix, Conrad Felixmuller, George Grosz, Erich Heckel, Kaethe Kollwitz, Ludwig Meidner, Otto Mueller, Emil Nolde, Max Pechstein, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Georg Tappert, Ernst Barlach, Karl Jakob Hirsch, and many, many more. A most presentable example of the uncommon hardbound first edition showing a tiny bump to the tips of the boards - not affecting the textblock - at the lower foredge corner, some soiling to the jacket along the extremities, and a discreet previous owner's blindstamp on the title page. It has been priced accordingly. 0-916304-64-7 Inventory Number: 016018
