multiple - a 10 1/4 inch diameter paper plate screenprinted in primary blue,
red and yellow inks. Stated on verso " Roy Lichtenstein © On 1st
Inc.1969". Unsigned as issued. This is a flawless example of this ephemeral
multiple that Lichtenstein produced at the height of his powers for the
groovy 60's shop, On First. Located on First Avenue in New York, the store
was the brainchild of noted fashion & advertising photographer Bert
Stern, who opened it with the idea that they would sell objects for the
home designed by artists, fashion designers, etc. However, the store closed
very shortly after this item was commissioned, and most were neither distributed,
nor seen again. We have a rapidly dwindling supply of this striking Pop
Art tableware - as fresh as the day it was printed!
