(FREY, ALBERT).
Golub, Jennifer. ALBERT FREY: HOUSES 1 + 2 - WITH A FACSIMILE BLUEPRINT,
SIGNED BY THE ARCHITECT. New York: Princeton Architectural Press, 1998.
First Edition 1/300. Oblong 8vo. Cloth in Slipcase. Architecture Monograph.
As New/No Jacket - As Issued. 84pp, beautifully illustrated with 53 color
and 22 duotone plates. This stunning little gem is devoted exclusively to
the two houses that Corbu associate Frey built for himself in the desert
area of Palm Springs, California. A labor of love by the author, designer,
and photographers, this first, hardbound edition actually sold out before
publication. The copy we are offering is from the exceedingly limited edition
that contains a 9 1/2" x 6 3/4" facsimile blueprint of a suspended
dining table designed by Frey for House Number 2. This blueprint is initialed
by Frey (who was too weak at the time to sign the three hundred or so copies
-- sadly, he died two weeks after the book was published), and laid in at
the rear, as issued. The book is enclosed in the publisher's clear plastic
slipcase. A pristine copy of this design award winning tribute.
